Mystery Behind
This whimsical celebration of the dark feminine came about as part of the healing that followed the death of Josh Clayton-Felt.
After Josh died I was wrecked and only felt human spending time with people who knew and loved him.
Chad Fisher was one of Josh’s friends from high school in Brookline, Massachusetts. He played drums in School of Fish and Josh recorded most of his last album in Chad’s studio in Laurel Canyon.
After the funeral I asked Chad if he’d like to collaborate on a song. Not a commercial endeavor. Just something healing and friendly. He graciously agreed and we wrote and recorded “Mystery Behind” in his studio in Laurel Canyon.
I played Josh’s bass on the track. Ethan Gold stopped by to play the keyboards and the recorder. Chad produced the track, played the drums and came up with the cool harmony on the chorus. It was really sweet of him to share his space and his spirit with me like this.
